Welcome everyone! My name is Tara. I initially created this blog page so family & friends could follow me while I trained & fundraised for the benefits of cancer research/support. As I continue to charge along & stay involved, I invite you to come along on my journey through the trials & tribulations & ultimately trying to make the small impacts I so eagerly hope to do. Interested in what I'm doing or how you can help, please email me!!!

Fundraiser Planning in Full Swing!
This is Beth, Tara's sister, writing in today with an update on how we're coming along with the fundraising. Tara and I have been working hard at organizing another "Spring Shopping Social & Plant Sale" to be held on April 23rd, 2011 at the Brunswick Community Center. We've secured many vendors (our space is almost completely filled!) and have been soliciting donations for another fabulous raffle. This year, we're putting together "packages" of gift certificates for local business to raffle off. An example of a package that we've already put together includes our "Taste of Brunswick" package ($50 gift to Horn's Tavern & $50 Tamarac Wine & Liquors + More!). A full list of vendors and raffle packages will be posted soon so check back often and MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Join Me For Some Training & Sign Up For A Free Intro Class At Albany CrossFit!!!

Here is an opportunity to get some cross training in and learn about CrossFit! I have been CrossFitting for about only 4 months and can't believe the gains in my athletic abilities in this short time. I am officially a believer that no matter what sport(s) you are involved with, cross training using CrossFits concepts can boost performance. I have collaborated with the owner of Albany CrossFit to block off a few special times for the TNT folks and anyone else interested in learning more... Yes, that means you!
Come to Albany CrossFit on Saturday March 5th at 1pm and learn the basics about CrossFitting and how it can benefit your athletic ventures. This free intro class will consist of a brief informational discussion, followed by an awesome CrossFit workout, so get ready to sweat! Even if you are not interested in joining a CrossFit box/gym, come and learn how some basic movements and exercises you already do, can be incorporated into your training to make it much more efficient. If you can't make it on March 5th, there may be another intro class on March 15th for a 6 or 7pm class if enough people are interested. Feel free to check out Albany CrossFit's website at albanycrossfit.com. If you would like to sign up for either of these classes, please email me (click the 'Email Me' link at the top of this page) by Friday March 4th. I hope many of you can make it!

I am excited to continue my cross training with ACF and to get started with the new cycling season...

Inspiration
"Some people say its too early. Some people say its too cold. Some people say its too far. Some people say it takes too long. Some people say I could get hurt. But they don't know I learned a few secrets a long time ago that drive me to pursue my goals. If it hurts, it will only make you stronger. If it requires sacrifice, victory will be THAT much sweeter. And finally, nothing, and I mean NOTHING compares to reaching goals that others said were out of your reach..." ~Hopeful Ironman (woman) Finisher
For many of us, we hope to achieve something extraordinary. For me, I'm hoping just to cross that finish line...

Professional Photos from the Mooseman
Sorry it's taken so long to get these up here! Click HERE to view the professional photos from the Mooseman 70.3 Ironman 2010.
Weather conditions on the day of the event were horrible (wet & cold) so I (Beth) wasn't able to take many good pictures. Thankfully, we could rely on the professionals to do their job!

Mooseman 70.3 Triathlon.... check!
Hello All! This is Beth writing in for Tara. What a crazy and long weekend it's been but I couldn't be any prouder of my sister than I am today! Tara finished the Mooseman 70.3 Triathlon this afternoon sometime around 3:30pm, which brought her to complete the endurance event in under 8 hours. The fact that she was able to complete it at all, especially given the conditions of the course today (extremely cold and wet) is nothing short of amazing to me. Tara was in great spirits as she crossed the finish line and she looked terrific. I especially want to thank ALL of the members of Team In Training for their hard work and effort.
More photos and stories to come ....
